Investing in sustainable commodities

Cocoa Life is our largest sustainability effort to date. Through our Cocoa Life program, we will invest $400 million over the next ten years to improve the livelihood and living conditions of more than 200,000 cocoa farmers and about one million people in the cocoa farming communities in our six key cocoa growing origin countries.

Cocoa Life is built on the vision that empowered thriving cocoa farming communities are the essential foundation for sustainable cocoa farming. Our mission is to ensure not only that we are being sourced with the very best in cocoa bean quality, but more importantly, that our farmers and future generations are being provided with all the support they need to make and keep their business prosperous and sustainable.

Harmony Charter: from wheat to biscuit. Wheat is the main ingredient in our biscuits. That is why in 2008, Mondelez International created Harmony Charter, a sustainable partnership with actors along the wheat chain: from farmers to millers. The programme, that was first initiated in France, aims to favor local biodiversity, our biscuits quality and traceability. Today more than 1,700 European farmers have partnered with us as we commit to using Harmony wheat in 75 % of our biscuits sold in Western Europe by end 2015.
